Looking forward

I have 3 months left in Korea, and there are so many things I can’t wait for once I arrive at home:

  • family/friends (of course)
  • pumpkin spice lattes
  • laying in grass
  • driving my scooter
  • driving a car
  • Mexican food - Tacos Guaymas in particular
  • VEGETARIAN food!!! That’s a big one.
  • mild temperatures
  • the farmer’s market
  • everything written in English
  • understanding what people are saying and them understanding me
  • Thai food - On Rice
  • Christmas!
  • playing with my sister’s cats
  • apple cider
  • soft and comfortable bed
  • produce available all year-round
  • blond hair
  • being able to have a completely fluent and comprehensive doctor appointment
  • food that’s not too spicy
  • no more bugs!
  • feeling safe in a moving vehicle
  • pedestrians having the right a-way
  • walking on the right side
  • lines
  • first-come, first-served
  • tbc

Things I’ll miss from Korea:

  • jimjilbangs
  • movie theater seat reservations
  • service bell in restaurants
  • cheap haircuts
  • smiley faces on everything
  • tbc

Next Steps

I’m thinking that India might be my next plan of travel before gradschool. I have always wanted to devote a few months volunteering in an orphanage there, and this would be the opportune time to do it. I found a program that costs $700 (less than $12/day) which will cover my accomodations and food for 2 months, with the airfare, travel insurance, and visa figured in, it’ll cost less than half of what I’d expect to pay for 2 months touring Europe. Plus, I’d like to serve in India alone, yet experience Europe with a companion, so now would be the perfect time to do something I’ve always wanted to do before I do my Master’s and settle down and all in a career.
